Is Electrolysis safe? ... and other relevant questions
Q Is electrolysis safe?
A Yes, electrolysis is approved by the medical profession. Our certified electrogists are fully qualified. At Iga’s Electrolysis & Laser, we take sterilization and sanitation procedures very seriously. We always use a new sterile disposable needle on each client and dispose of it appropriately after one use. Forceps are sterilized after each use in an autoclave to prevent any cross contamination. We use a new pair of disposable gloves for each client.
Q Is there a permanent solution to unwanted hair?
A To date, electrolysis is the only permanent solution to removing unwanted hair.
Q How does electrolysis work?
A A very fine probe is gently inserted into the hair follicle. A small, controlled current of heat is passed through the probe to coagulate the hair root.
Q Does electrolysis hurt?
A There is some mild discomfort. Tolerance varies with each individual. For a sensitive area a topical anaesthetic is available.
Q What are the primary causes of unwanted hair?
A Hair growth is often traced to hereditary factors, and sometimes stress and certain illnesses can stimulate growth. Also temporary methods of hair removal (especially waxing and tweezing), certain drugs and medications or just the normal hormonal changes at different stages of life can increase growth. Sometimes simply a sensitivity to normal levels of hormones can stimulate a hair growth.
Q What areas can hair be removed from?
A Any area with the exception of very sensitive areas such as the eyelids. Don't be embarrassed about, for example, hair around the nipples, on the abdomen or bikini line - these are very common areas for hair removal by electrolysis.
Q How many treatments are required?
A A series of treatments is essential; length and number of treatments is dependant on a number of factors. We offer a free personal consultation to assess your hair removal needs.
Q Will there be any permanent damage?
A There should be absolutely no permanent damage to the skin surface if you are receiving treatment from a competent electrologist.
